October 15, 1749, letter from La Corne to John Hawks of Deerfield, Mass., who had been commander at Fort Massachusetts when the garrison was captured and burned in 1746 and who had journeyed to Canada in 1748 to redeem English captives, regarding La Corne's inability to locate a prisoner (probably a captive of the Indians) after whom Hawks had enquired.
